OUR MISSION

“The Wythe Student Union is dedicated to improving Wythe County through the empowerment of the combined student body to advocate for, research, and serve their community regardless of who they are."

KNOW YOUR RIGHTS

"It can hardly be argued that either students or teachers shed their constitutional rights to freedom of speech or expression at the schoolhouse gate."

-TINKER v. DES MOINES, 1969

"Let us pick up our books and pencils. They are our most powerful weapon."

-MALALA YOUSAFZAI

hutto-hs-tx-student-protest.avif

"When the whole world is silent, even one voice becomes powerful."

Many students struggle to defend their civil liberties in educational settings. We provide the tools for you to master your rights, from free speech and assembly to religion and equal protection. Understanding these constitutional safeguards is the first step toward advocacy. Explore our resources or reach out today to discuss your concerns.

ABOUT US

The Wythe Student Union is an independent, county-wide club founded in 2026 to empower students to make a positive change in their county through community-level activism. Students from WCC and all three high schools get involved in their community through projects in research, service, and advocacy focused on resolving issues that impact our area.

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

The Student Union is governed by an Executive, a 5-Student Board, and an 3-Teacher Advisory. These three branches decide where to allocate resources for projects and lead the club forward.
Each year, an election is held before school starts where members vote first for a President and then a Representative to represent their school. Two extra seats are given to the runners up in the Presidential Election to serve as at-large seats. After the elections, the President selects one advisor from the list of candidates and the Student Board votes to appoint two more, where there must still be one from each school.
